 Project KIFLI - DELIVERABLES

1.- Comparative study of the state of the art

Description
This report shows the state of the art on physical resources for people 45+ in the different countries involved in the KIFLI project: United Kingdom, Hungary, Germany, Denmark, Spain and Austria. As well as research on resources currently available, questionnaires and interviews to trainees involved in the project were also carried out, in order to get to know better their needs and points of view related to physical activities in their dairy life. Key challenges with strong KIFLI relevance, as well as recommendations and SWOT analysis of the situation in different countries are also outcomes of the study.

2.- Guidelines for physical education and involvement

Description
This report is the result of answering the following questions by the target group of the KIFLI project (People 45+ interested in active aging by physical activities) from the different institutions involved: How do older people get physically involved? How important is it to offer training material that includes a social aspect? What do they expect from an online training material? What would motivate them to take exercise? What sort of activities would they like / in what format?

3.- Web based teaching platform

Description

In the following link you can find the training material created in the framework of the KIFLI project. You will read the content from its main sections and get guidance about how to start training any kind of sport showed in this online platform. The material is based on 4 main pillars: online fitness tests, modules, calculators, videos, and games and quizzes. You can start exploring the content and getting introduced into the material by any of these topics:

Online fitness tests: Test your fitness level and more: you can find a set of online tests where you can see how fit you are, concerning your strength, your stamina, your balance and your flexibility.

Module WHY? (Reasons to do exercises) explains you why it is crucial to start or pursue exercises. It maps the medical and physiological background and describes changes of physical state over 50. Its chapters are: Biological background, Prevention, Social Background, Conclusions.

Module WHAT? (Forms of exercises) collects information on sports and exercises which are tailored to the needs of 50+ people. You can find here a great variety of sports in the sections: Outdoor exercises, Indoor exercises, Dancing, Fit&Work.

Module HOW? (Recommendations) gives you scientifically based advises on how you start doing exercises, how your training can be the most effective, and how to avoid injuries. It includes chapters: How to get started?; Stamina; Strength; Balance; Flexibility.

Calculators: help you to calculate your rates and indexes for many things related to physical fitness (body mass and body fat index, optimal heart rate, etc.

Videos: You can find videos helping you to learn new forms of exercises (training videos). Also there are interview and appetizer videos to motivate and inspire you.

Online games and quizzes: Have fun and test your knowledge. These games and quizzes test how much you know about keeping a healthy training programme and about various sport opportunities for your age.

4.- Modules

Description

The modules (available in the on-line learning platform) are structured according to the information you can gain related to your exercises and fitness. Useful texts enriched by further links to direct you forward, by pictures for more visualization and by videos on various forms of exercises. There are three main modules (Why, What and How) which are subdivided into smaller units.

5.- On-line tests

Description

Test your fitness level and more: you can find a set of online tests where you can see how fit you are, concerning your strength, your stamina, your balance and your flexibility. The tests available are the following:

- Back Scratch Test

- 8-Foot Up and Go Test

- Walk Test (6 minutes)

- Step in Place Test (2 minutes)

6.- Web 2.0 platform

Description
In the following link you can find the facebook page created in the framework of the KIFLI project. You will find interesting information related to the topic “Keepin Fit in Later Life”, as well as, videos & photos, other users´ comments, events related to this project and more... Moreover, you can join and make your comment directly from the online material site.

7.- Demo and training videos

Description

You can find videos helping you to learn new forms of exercises (training videos). Also there are interview and appetizer videos to motivate and inspire you. The training videos available are:

8.- Handbook

Description

The handbook is a summary of all the theoretical background gained throughout the project as well as the source for general and concrete ideas for physical exercises for seniors. It uses and puts in concept the results of the: 1, investigation about the state of the art; 2, experiences of community, development and their performance; and 3, guidelines of the modules.

The handbook has been translated into the following national languages: English, Spanish, Danish, Hungarian and German.

The chapters of the handbook include:

9.- Invitation to mobility

Description

The success of mobilities highly depends on the preparatory work. A short invitation leaflet was prepared by the coordinators of the mobility. It gives basic information on the mobility- its aims and objectives, its venue, planned target group, planned agenda.

The leaflet is designed to reach the audience primarily via internet, however, partners had the chance to print it and distribute it on national level to individuals interested in the programme.

10.- Project leaflet

Description
The leaflet contains the most important information of the project and has been spread during dissemination activities. It has been planned and produced commonly by the partnership and is available by this link, as well as printed into each partner languages: English, Spanish, Danish, Hungarian and German.

11.- Final conference

Description
The Final Conference in the framework of KIFLI project took place at 12.10.2012 / 10:00 - 15:30 in Heinrich Schütz Residence, Neumarkt 12, 01067 Dresden (Germany) The main aim were: organizing a final conference in Dresden with an open invitation to all relevant interested participants, especially professionals; disseminating the results of the project, popularizing the idea of communitybased teaching methods; and trying to establish the conditions of the sustainment of the project. The organization of the conference was preceeded by the preparation (including composition of the call for the conference, selecting venue, invited lecturers etc.).
